A huge well done to our Director, Dave Parker, who absolutely smashed his goal at the Chester Marathon this weekend — aiming for 3:30 and finishing with an amazing time of 3:15!
Dave had the below to say:
“Yesterday I managed to do something I never thought I would be able to do, I set myself a target of running a sub 3:30 marathon earlier this year, a very ambitious target and something I genuinely did not know whether or not I could achieve.
The training started around 16 weeks ago, through the summer period so balancing with the odd holiday, summer bbq’s, etc, made it even more challenging but I headed into the weekend knowing I had a chance of achieving my goal, then storm Amy came along to cause havoc and potentially derail all the training.
As the race progressed I knew I was in a good place to achieve my target, as long as the marathon wall didn’t stop me when I got to it, I kept going and when I was expecting the wall I couldn’t have been more surprised to actually get a push, the last few miles got faster, not slower, and as I pushed to the finish I was delighted to see the race clock reading around 3:17 as I approached it…with my official chip time of 3:15:31 all the training, hard work and sacrifices had been worth it
Thank you to everyone who has supported me…Rome is the next stop on this marathon journey!!
Running has become a huge part of my life, it provides me with a switch off from the daily stresses and has significantly improved my mental health!”
