We’re delighted to see the completion of Cleator Moor Activity Centre, a newly refurbished and extended leisure and community facility delivered as part of the Cleator Moor Town Deal’s Healthy Town programme.

The project, delivered for Cumberland Council, has transformed the existing building into a modern, multi-purpose and inclusive facility, providing improved leisure and community amenities for local residents.

The refurbishment and extension include a new four-court sports hall, multipurpose studio, fitness suite and changing facilities. The development also provides a new home for the Cumberland Occupational and Social Centre (COSC), supporting people with physical disabilities.

CGP|MEP provided Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) design services from RIBA Stages 2 to 6, with a key focus on reducing operational energy consumption and carbon emissions.

The all-electric building services design incorporates air source heat pumps, energy-efficient VRF air conditioning and LED lighting. Solar photovoltaic panels also provide on-site renewable electricity generation, helping to offset the Centre’s energy demand and support its long-term sustainability.

We’re pleased to have worked alongside Architects Plus, Thomas Armstrong Group and Furness Partnership on behalf of Cumberland Council to help deliver a modern, energy-efficient facility that will benefit the local community for years to come.
